It was a peaceful Saturday afternoon. My husband and I were looking for something to discover in our beautiful province of Rizal. Our immediate thought was to go to the mountains, our usual go-to. But this was a special day — we knew people were going to flock to the restaurants around the area, so we decided to try a different spot, something we'd always just driven past. It caught our eye, but it wasn't as flashy as the other hangout spots, that's why we tend to just skip it.
This time was different. We wanted something more. Something different. So, we decided to go to this resto: Paseo Rizal. It looked like an old rich guy's house — classic colonial structure.

To our surprise, there was a gift shop/museum inside, but we were famished so we went upstairs to the restaurant first and it was cozy.

It was our lucky day — there was a live musician inside. He played romantic songs on the piano, really singing from his heart. It felt special. I remember during our drive, I told my husband that I wanted to see a live band performing for our date but that place was too far away (4-hour drive) — so it was an answered prayer. And it felt like we had the place to ourselves.

Quaint. Serene. Perfect. Honestly? We weren't expecting much from the food. But the food? Spectacular. I ordered the classic CPA (Chicken-Pork Adobo) and my husband ordered Kare-Kare bagnet.
And oh man. It was so good. The adobo tasted homemade — the chicken didn't taste malansa. The pork was generously marinated. You know when adobo's been marinated overnight? It was just like that. The flavor went all the way through. The kare-kare bagnet? Smooth and legit. Rich peanut flavor, but not starchy or thick like some places make it. We also got dynamite as a starter — crunchy and fresh.
The cheese inside was melted and gooey. Hehe. The only thing that was a bit off was the fried rice. I think it was newly cooked Yang chow fried rice, which needs left-over rice, not fresh. It was still good nonetheless. The hot chocolate was impeccable, we even asked if they were selling tablea tablets, unfortunately they weren't but asking if they were selling it is a testament as to how good it was.
All in all, great experience. We'll definitely be back. Maybe next time we'll try their other dishes. :)
